Summit Surgery Center Butte MT

   Day of Your Procedure

  • Plan to arrive at the time that you were told to check in. The registration process only takes a few minutes.

  • Dress comfortably and wear clothing that will allow you to change into a gown easily. Some of our patients have described the Center as being cold. We encourage everyone to bring a jacket.

  • Bring your insurance card, payment obligation, and driver’s license or photo I.D. with you. LEAVE ALL OTHER VALUABLES, INCLUDING JEWELRY, WALLET AND ADDITIONAL CASH AT HOME. We are not responsible for damaged or lost property.

  • Dental appliances can be left in place. These items will be removed and placed in a protective storage container prior to your procedure.

  • Contact lenses may not be worn. Please wear your glasses instead.

  • Children may bring a favorite toy or blanket.

  • Feel free to bring a book, audio recorder with headset, or your laptop to use in the event there is a delay. Our center has Wi-Fi connectivity for laptops and smartphones.

  • Do not wear make-up, lotions, perfumes/colognes, false lashes, or hair products/spray.

  • If you were instructed to use preoperative bathing wipes (Sage Cloths), do so.

  • Make a list of your current medications and bring it with you. The list should include the medication’s name, dosage, frequency and the last dose taken. Multivitamins, herbal products and other over-the-counter medications should be included on the list.

  • If your procedure requires anesthesia, a member of the anesthesia department will speak with you prior to your procedure.

  • Be prepared to sign a form giving your consent for the procedure. If the patient is under 18, a parent or legal guardian must accompany the patient and sign the consent form. If the patient is not able to sign legal documents, then someone with a Durable Power of Attorney or legal guardianship should be present. A copy of the Durable Power of Attorney or Legal Guardianship will be needed.

  • Summit Surgery Center does NOT honor Advanced Directives, but you may bring a copy that will be placed on your chart. In the event you may need to be transferred to a hospital, your Advanced Directives would go into force. For additional information regarding a Power of Attorney or Advanced Directives, contact Summit Surgery Center prior to your procedure.

  • When you arrive at the Center your chart is already prepared using information provided by your provider. We will ask you to review the information to ensure accuracy. You will be asked to provide your insurance card, driver’s license or photo I.D., and payment obligation.

  • You will then be taken into the pre-op area to review your medical history, medications, and allergies. The nurse will then have you change into a gown in a private changing room. Your vital signs will be taken and an IV will be started.

  • Your procedure may require sedation. Because we care about your safety, if you had any sedation we cannot allow you to drive home.

  • Your family will wait in the lobby during the procedure and recovery time. This will ensure your privacy and the privacy of our other patients. Your provider will speak with your family or the person accompanying you following your procedure. Your family will be brought to the discharge area and may stay with you until you are discharged.
